A cidade dos murais

 

Em 1985, o Grupo Arte Ahora foi formado graças à iniciativa do Dr. Roberto Villalba, que em seu retorno do México propôs aos artistas plásticos Luis Llarens, Juan Carlos Soto e ao arquiteto Ernesto Alfano a idéia de traduzir a arte através de murais. Este grupo e José Kura, sonhavam em socializar a arte e resgatar através de seu trabalho certos personagens da história de Corrientes.

Em 1989, os artistas Soto, Llarens e Kura viajam para Misiones para expor algumas obras, onde encontraram um artista plástico israelense, Leon Kotler, que lhes ensinou uma técnica antiga chamada sgraffito.

No retorno desta viagem, foi elaborado o Projeto City of the Murals Corrents, apresentado ao Conselho Deliberativo, uma vez aprovado; a construção da Grande Muralha localizada na parede da Plazoleta Italia é realizada.

Em 1991, o Grupo Multidisciplinar da Região Guaranítica: Arte Ahora foi criado com artistas plásticos, poetas, músicos e escritores. Assim, a capital Corrientes foi nomeada Corrientes, Cidade dos Murais.
