Cementerio San Juan Bautista

El Cementerio San Juan Bautista de la Ciudad de Corrientes, es el cementerio público más antiguo de la ciudad, en uso, y uno de los más antiguos del nordeste argentino. Su primer patio conserva invaluables testimonios arquitectónicos y escultóricos que enriquecen el patrimonio cultural de la Provincia de Corrientes, la Región y el País. En este cementerio se encuentran además los restos de expectables vecinos, ciudadanos ilustres, figuras históricas y relevantes personalidades lo que ha motivado todo en su conjunto la sanción de la Ordenanza N 5.049/09 que declara el primer patio del Cementerio San Juan Bautista de la Ciudad de Corrientes  “de interés patrimonial e histórico y arquitectónico”.

El Cementerio San Juan Bautista se encuentra actualmente en un proceso de puesta en valor integral y las refacciones necesarias para el cumplimiento de la Ordenanza 5.049/09 que instrumenta los medios legales a los efectos de preservar el “patio histórico” de la necrópolis, poner en valor las bóvedas, sepulturas, esculturas, mausoleos,  proveer al mantenimiento de los mismos particularmente aquellos que guardan los restos de expectables figuras de la Historia de la Provincia de Corrientes, preparando convenientemente el área de protección patrimonial para desarrollar un producto de Tanatoturismo, como un atractivo en la Ciudad.
